UPDATE: Historic bridge in Aiken back open

AIKEN, S.C. -- The Union Street bridge in Aiken was closed Tuesday morning after being damaged by an overweight truck. It has since been reopened.

Authorities say something fell off the truck and damaged the historic bridge around 8 a.m. Diesel was also spilled onto the roadway.

Officers asked railroad company engineers to come inspect the bridge.

No one was injured during the incident.
