Highway Patrol working 2 accidents in Aiken

AIKEN -- South Carolina Highway Patrol was working two accidents with injuries in Aiken. The calls came in shortly before noon.

The first was on Powderhouse Road at Whiskey Road. Troopers said a 18-year-old Elizabeth Smith was driving a 1999 Infiniti south on Powderhouse Road when she traveled to the right. She lost control and overturned. They said she was texting while driving. She was charged with driving too fast for conditions.

The other was along the 300 block of E. Pine Log Road. Troopers said 27-year-old Jimmy Green was driving his 2004 Honda Accord north on Pine Log Road when he ran off the right side of the road, then left, overturned and hit a tree. He was taken to MCG with minor injuries. He was charged with driving too fast for conditions.
