AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW) -- Jordan Walker hasn't even graduated from high school yet, but she's already published her first book.
The teenager has already gotten her first check from book sales and it all started because of a class assignment.
"Basically, I found out I wrote too much when I turned it in. So, I just turned it into a book," Walker said.
Walker's book, "Diary of an Aztec" was published in December of last year. Now, she's already working on her next projects.
"I have a lot of writing projects that I do. Right now, I'm working on three and one of them is the sequel to that one," Walker said.
Greenbrier High School is trying to encourage other students who are interested in creative writing to follow in Walker's footsteps.
They've started a club called the Creative Writing Workshop. This year, students will have the opportunity to create their own books at school.
"We've gotten together with our artists who will do the cover work and illustrate the book. Our librarians have agreed to get a bar code and put it on our shelves," said the club's adviser.
Walker will be the president of the club this year while she juggles her new projects, but she says she's ready.
"It's work, but it's fun. Because writing is my biggest passion," Walker said.
