HARLEM, Ga. (WRDW) -- Harlem's Police Chief David Sward submitted his letter of resignation Thursday morning.

Chairman of the Public Safety Committee and Councilman John Thigpen says Assistant Chief Jim March is leading the department at the moment.

Thigpen says there was no indication of a problem or controversy before Sward's resignation.

They plan to name an interim chief soon and are beginning an immediate search for a new chief of police.
