NORTH AUGUSTA, SC (WRDW) - The Homeowners Association Board for the River Club has voted to remove itself from the lawsuit filed against North Augusta over Project Jackson.
At a special meeting, board members voted 3-1 on a resolution to withdraw the River Club from the litigation.
HOA President Steve Donohue, who filed the suit, was the only board member who voted against the resolution.
The resolution allows Donohue to go forward with the lawsuit individually, but not as a representative of the River Club.
The lawsuit claims the city of North Augusta is fraudulently using "blight" as justification for the TIF plan, which would help pay for the project.
Project Jackson would redevelop North Augusta's riverfront, including a new baseball stadium and hotel.
