AIKEN, S.C. (WRDW) -- A Graniteville father and his son are wanted after an alleged run-in with authorities.
Public Safety said Ernest Simpkins was following his ex-wife on Monday, used his car to block her in and entered her car. After getting out, Ernest followed the victim to the parking lot of the Aiken County Sheriff's Office. Public Safety said Ernest fled the scene and was seen driving out of city limits on Jefferson Davis Highway. Once in Graniteville, the driver stopped the car and ran away from officers.
Ernest's son, Jalen Simpkins, showed up to the scene of the traffic stop and said he was the driver and he was the one who ran away. The officer said he believed he was trying to take law enforcement's attention off of his father and onto him. After being placed under arrest, officers said Jalen pushed an officer to the ground and ran away. The officer had minor injuries.
Ernest, 44, is wanted for harassment, reckless driving, and failure to stop for blue lights and siren.
Jalen, 21, is wanted for obstruction of justice and resisting arrest with bodily injury.
