GRANITEVILLE, S.C. (WRDW) -- A grandfather and grandson are dead tonight, and deputies say the grandfather pulled the trigger.
Investigators say witnesses saw 67-year-old Ronald W. Wilson shoot his 16-year-old grandson, Gerald Wilson, at his estranged wife's house on Whaley Pond Road in Graniteville.
According to a release, Wilson lived next door. Both the estranged wife and Wilson's live-in girlfriend were in the house too. Deputies say they were able to escape without injury. The grandmother then stopped an off duty police officer for help.
The coroner confirms the officer then witnessed Wilson take his own life.
The release says Wilson had just been released from jail for a previous criminal domestic violence issue within the past 72 hours.
An autopsy is scheduled in Newberry, S.C.
The Aiken County Sheriff's Office is continuing to investigate.
