AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW) -- Those warmer temperatures are the cause of more traveling for the holiday weekend, but those gas prices can have some kind of effect on you if you hit the road.
Every penny counts, and during the busy weekend filling up is almost always in every driver's agenda.
AAA says the average price for unleaded fuel has dropped 1 cent to $3.64 a gallon.
But if you if you plan on hitting the the road for the holiday for the weekend, you'll save only a penny at the pump.
The national average for gas dropped to $3.64 a gallon.
But there's good news for those in South Carolina, where the state is seeing the cheapest gas in country is right now. The average price in the area is $3.27 for a gallon.
The motor club estimates 34.8 million people are taking trips for the holiday. That's down from last year where some 35.1 million traveled.
News 12 spoke to a few drivers who say they think twice before making any holiday plans because of gas prices.
Drivers say they drive over the river more often to fill up on South Carolina gas where gas is almost 25 cents cheaper than in Georgia.
