Ga. woman pleads guilty in 2011 DUI crash

Tuesday, Jan. 16, 2013

AUGUSTA, Ga. (AP) -- An Augusta woman has pleaded guilty to driving under the influence during an accident in 2011 that left her two children injured.

The Augusta Chronicle reports 28-year-old Chasity Weston pleaded guilty Monday in Richmond County Superior Court to serious injury by vehicle, driving under the influence and two counts of child endangerment.

Authorities say Weston had a 0.18 blood alcohol level after she and her two children were ejected from her burning Ford Mustang in the September 11 accident. In 2010 Weston pleaded guilty to DUI and two counts of violating child restraint laws.

Weston has been sentenced to two years in prison and is ordered to serve eight years on probation. Judge Carl. C. Brown Jr. says he will suspend incarceration if Weston attends drug and alcohol counseling.
