SAVANNAH, Ga. (AP) -- The commissioner of Georgia's Department of Juvenile Justice says one of his agency's corrections officers has been arrested on felony drug charges in Savannah.
Commissioner Avery Niles issued a statement Saturday saying police arrested 31-year-old Kevin Maurice Biggins at a dorm room at Savannah State University, where the juvenile corrections officer is enrolled as a student.
Police say Biggins had two prescription bottles and 13 small bags filled with marijuana hidden in his clothing during his arrest Friday and an officer found an illegal stash of oxycodone pills inside a drawer.
Biggins is charged with drug possession with intent to distribute. It was not known Saturday if he had an attorney.
Another juvenile jailer, Craig Banks of Cedartown, was arrested on felony drug charges in Polk County last week.
