UPDATE: GBI identifies suspect in McDuffie Co. homicide

THOMSON, Ga. (WRDW) -- News 12 has just learned a suspect has been identified in a fatal shooting on Saturday night.

Winston Orlando Smith Jr., 21, is now booked in the McDuffie County Jail and is charged with one count of murder.

Authorities say Smith is accused of shooting 36-year-old Jonathan Curry Saturday night.

Officers say more charges could be coming.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation, the McDuffie County Sheriff's Office, the Thomson Police Department and the Georgia State Patrol are assisting in the investigation.

Agents say they found Curry in the kitchen of a house on Pounds Street with a gunshot wound.

According to officers, the two were arguing before shots were fired.

The autopsy will be performed Monday morning in Atlanta.

THOMSON, Ga. (WRDW) -- News 12 has just learned the name of the victim in Saturday night's homicide in McDuffie County.

The McDuffie County Sheriff's Office says Jonathan Curry was found in the kitchen of a house on Pounds Street in Thomson with a gunshot wound.

Officers say they have a suspect in custody.

THOMSON, Ga. (WRDW) -- The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is working a homicide in McDuffie County.

Investigators say one person is dead from a gunshot wound.

Officials say it happened on Pounds Street in Thomson around 4:30 p.m. Saturday.

Investigators confirm they do have suspects, but no one has been arrested.
