AUGUSTA, Ga. -- News 12 has a learned a graveside service for Charles Webster will be held on Tuesday at 11 a.m. in Westover Memorial Park.
According to Webster's obituary, the family will receive friends Monday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at Poteet & Son funeral home on Davis Road.
Pallbearers will be Sheriff Ronnie Strength, Freddie Sanders, Duncan Fordham, Lee Ready, Gene Johnson, Jimmy Drew, Kenny Miles and Homer Moxley Jr.
Honorary pallbearers will be John Hardin, Judge William Fleming, Judge Danny Craig, Joel Avery, Felix Patrick, Jimmy Norris, Whitey Lester, the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office and members of the Georgia Sheriff’s Association.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warriors, c/o Community Foundation for the CSRA, P.O. Box 31358, Augusta, GA 30903 or to The Golden Harvest Food Bank, 3310 Commerce Dr., Augusta, GA 30909.
Webster died early Saturday morning after being diagnosed with liver cancer two weeks ago. Webster had no children and his wife, Frances, passed away in 2010.
Webster served as Richmond County sheriff from 1984 until he retired in 2000. In 2004, the Phinizy Road jail was renamed in his honor.
