HEPHZIBAH, Ga. -- The funeral arrangements have been made for a 7-year-old child who was killed in a car accident on Monday.
Jamal Lovett's funeral will be held on Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Jenkins Memorial C.M.E Church. Rev. Timothy Green will be officiating. Interment will follow at Walker Memorial Park.
His visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday at Williams Funeral Home (2945 Old Tobacco Road, Hephzibah, GA).
Jamal was a student at Willis Foreman Elementary.
According to the Williams Funeral Home website: "Survivors are his parents, Michelle Lovett-McGill and Larry E. McGill, Ansbach, Germany; sisters, Jamiah McGill and Mackenzie McGill; grandparents, Carolyn and James McGill Jr., Hephzibah, Ga., Rose and Larry McGill Sr., Kingstree, S.C.; great grandmother, Ola Bell Lovett, Augusta; devoted aunt, Nicole Lovett, and first cousin, Zaiden Lovett, Hephzibah, Ga.; uncle, Antoine McGill, Kingstree, S.C.; aunt, Zantisha McGill, Ft. Hood, Texas; and a host of cousins, great aunts and uncles, other relatives and friends."
The Richmond County Sheriff's Office says 30-year-old Michelle Lovett was driving northbound on Peach Orchard Road when she tried to make a left-hand turn onto Willis Foreman Road and was hit by a 2001 Chevrolet Silverado driving southbound. Jamal was ejected from the backseat of the car and was pronounced dead at 9:07 a.m. Monday. Charges are pending for the driver of the truck.
