SAVANNAH, Ga. (AP) -- The defense attorney for a Georgia man accused of impersonating an Army soldier at Fort Gordon says his client plans to plead guilty in a deal with prosecutors.
A plea hearing for Anthony Todd Saxon was scheduled for Wednesday in U.S. District Court in Augusta. Saxon's attorney, Danny Durham, confirmed the plea agreement Tuesday but declined to discuss details.
Saxon was arrested last June at Fort Gordon, where authorities found him on the Augusta Army post wearing a combat uniform and carrying a bag containing an anti-personnel mine, flash-bang grenades and night-vision equipment.
Prosecutors say Saxon hasn't served in the military since he was discharged from the Florida National Guard in 1994. But they say he'd convinced his family that he was about to deploy to Iraq or Afghanistan.
