Fox tested positive for rabies in the Powell Road area

AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW) -- A rabid fox has tested positive for rabies in the Powell Road area.

The Richmond County Health Department is warning everyone to avoid wild animals.

The Health Department says all dogs and cats in this area should have an up-to-date vaccination given by a registered veterinarian.

If a human comes in contact with a wild animal, call (706) 667-4234.

If pets get in contact with a wild animal, contact Richmond County Animal Services at (706) 790-6836.
