Fort Gordon to host Fourth of July festivities tonight

FORT GORDON, Ga. (WRDW) -- Fort Gordon will be holding its annual Independence Day celebration tonight.

The festivities at Barton Field include fireworks, a concert and a carnival. Admission is free.

The carnival opens at 3 p.m. and will have military displays, carnival rides and live entertainment.

A concert featuring The Swingin' Medallions starts at 7 p.m. The U.S. Army Signal Corps Band starts at 8:30 p.m.

Fireworks will kick off at dark.

Officials recommend that visitors come early to avoid traffic delays. Guests will be able to use Gates 1, 2 and 5 for inbound and outbound traffic starting at 6 p.m. Gate 3 will be open for outbound traffic only between 8 p.m. and 1 a.m. Click here for a map and more information on traffic.

To visit Fort Gordon, guests need to bring a picture ID, vehicle registration and proof of insurance.
