Former mayor of Norway dies from heart attack over weekend

NORWAY, S.C. (WRDW) -- News 12 has learned the former mayor of Norway died over the weekend.

According to The Times and Democrat, Jim Preacher Jr. had a heart attack on Sunday.

Preacher, who was no stranger to controversy, moved to Norway to become police chief but was fired in 2007. Preacher then became mayor but resigned shortly after.

In 2010, he was indicted on charges of misconduct by a government official and impersonating a police officer.
