Former employee accused of stealing over $105,000 in cylinders from Augusta company

AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW) -- A man was arrested on Tuesday in connection to the thefts of over 260 compressed aluminum gas cylinders from an Augusta business.

Bobby Lee Green, 63, is accused of breaking into Air Liquide on New Savannah Road and stealing the cylinders over a seven-month period. The total value of the cylinders is estimated at $105,700.

Green allegedly used a blow torch to cut the cylinders open before selling them to area recycling centers.

He worked at the plant until 2009 when he was arrested for a similar crime.

Green was booked into the Richmond County Jail and is facing 22 felony counts of theft by taking and two counts of misdemeanor theft by taking.
