AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW) -- A former Georgia Regents University employee has been sentenced to one year in prison for stealing money from the state.
Christin Lynn Wright was also sentenced to four years of probation and ordered to pay $10,296 in restitution.
Wright turned herself in to the Tattnall County Jail on Sunday. Back on Feb. 13, she pleaded guilty to one count of racketeering and one count of theft by taking.
During her time as a GRU employee, Wright worked as an administrative assistant at the Georgia State Prison in Reidsville, Ga. Her mother worked as a senior clerk at the same prison.
Wright's mother, Debbie Lynn Wright, allegedly put in incorrect hours for her daughter into the time card system so she received overtime.
Her mother pleaded guilty on Nov. 1 to one count of racketeering.
The co-defendant in the case, Paul Sylvester Thornbill, still has pending charges.
The investigation began when a warden followed up on a complaint made by an employee in December 2009.
