EDGEFIELD COUNTY, S.C. -- A former superintendent has filed a lawsuit against the Edgefield County School Board.
Mary Rice Crenshaw is suing the members of the board for breach of contract.
According to an affidavit, much of the lawsuit focuses on race. It even claims board President Brad Covar's actions last October (when Crenshaw was fired) were racially motivated.
At the time, board members said they were not happy with her leadership during her three years in office.
Crenshaw's replacement has since been chosen.
