AUGUSTA, Ga (WRDW) - Former Georgia Board of Regents member Tim Shelnut has been arrested on charges of failure to pay nearly $200,000 in alimony.
During a court hearing today, the judge determined Shelnut owed $199,675 in alimony payments. He is ordered to remain there until he pays the sum.
In addition to serving on the Board of Regents, he is a former owner of the Columbia News-Times. Shelnut also filed for bankruptcy in 2008.
