Aiken, S.C. (WRDW) - The special gift of giving on Saturday morning at golden harvest food bank, means food on the table for Lucille Kearse.
"It's like a miracle," said Kearse. "A miracle to be able to come out and get food for your family."
She's just one of the hundreds of families lining up today, to get a little help this holiday season.
"There's a line that started about 7:30 this morning," said Mike Gibbons with Golden Harvest Food Bank.
As the hours moved later into the morning, Gibbons knew there would be smiling faces today.
"Our job is to make sure they get food and all have food for the holidays," he said. "Everything from Rice and potatoes to fresh produce."
"It was like Christmas this year for me," said Deborah Heath who was first in line Saturday morning.
She waited for almost three hours for help she desperately needs.
"I haven't been working in four years and the way the economy is doing, places like this here will help us out a lot," said Heath.
Pallets of food coming straight from the community, back into the community.
Everything from grocery stores to personal pantries.
"I'm just overwhelmed, words are too numerous to express how we feel here today," said Kearse.
She like many others are giving thanks for the gift of nourishment and the gift of giving this holiday season.
"Mainly it's from the community, it's from all of us, our motto is feeding lives together and that's what we do, all together as a team," said Gibbons with Golden Harvest.
