AUGUSTA, Ga -- An Augusta YDC inmate is facing new charges of aggravated child molestation after the Georgia Bureau of Investigation says he attacked a fellow inmate this past weekend.
Devin Scott Ardoin, 17, was booked into the Richmond County jail Wednesday. Agents say he sexually molested a fellow 14-year-old inmate at the Augusta Youth Development Campus Sunday night.
The GBI says Ardoin was transported back to the Augusta YDC campus to continue serving his current juvenile sentence. He is facing charges as an adult for the aggravated child molestation, but News 12 is told a recent change in the law affects the case. Ardoin will be charged with a misdemeanor as opposed to a felony for the incident.
News 12 is waiting on a comment from the Department of Juvenile Justice. On Monday, they told us the victim was treated at an outside hospital following the sexual assault and brought back to the campus.
