THOMSON, Ga. (WRDW) -- A big fire fills the sky with flames and smoke on Washington Road in Thomson.

Firefighters got the call just before six this evening to the Weather Vane Antiques store. The flames could be seen by drivers nearby on I-20.

Crews actually closed the section of Washington Road around the business while fighting the fire, but it should be back opened shortly.

A new company, J.E. Rental, had just purchased the building. Workers say the store wasn't even open for business yet and the gas to the building hadn't been turned on.

Right now, no word on what sparked the fire.

J.E. Rental is a company that rents heavy equipment for construction and other projects.
