Fire kills 2 in Burke County

BURKE COUNTY, Ga. (WRDW) -- Two people are dead after a house fire in Burke County

Insurance and Fire Commissioner Ralph Hudgens is investigating the cause of the fire that destroyed the home at 272 South College Street in Vidette, Ga. They say the fire started shortly before 8:30 p.m.

Fire officials say the flames killed Quantovian Adams, 19, and his uncle, George Powell, 65. Both have been sent to the GBI Crime lab in Atlanta for an autopsy.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

Burke County Fire and Rescue and the Burke County Sheriff’s Office is assisting Hudgens' Fire Investigation Unit with the investigation.
