AIKEN, S.C. (WRDW) -- One person died after an early morning fire on the 400 block of Columbia Avenue just after midnight Thursday.

The Aiken County Coroner's Office has identified the victim as 71-year-old Thomas Jerome Butler. Butler had been living there for two weeks.

When crews arrived on scene, they found flames coming from the roof. Once inside, they found Butler's body.

The Aiken Department of Public Safety says there is no reason to believe this fire is suspicious.
