AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW) -- Fathers and their kids had a day full of bonding at the Augusta Commons.

This was the first annual Fatherhood buzz event. Local barbershops teamed up to to celebrate dads. The men were offered parenting advice and other tips.

Event organizers say it is important for children to grow up with a strong father figure because they are the foundation.

"The father is the foundation of the family and without the foundation nothing else stands. We have a lot of kids in this community growing up without that foundation and without out that foundation its rough growing up," organizer Daryl Rolle said.

The two-day event ended at the Augusta Commons with flag football, free barbecue and a mobile arcade. News 12's Ryan Houston was the MC for the event.
