WARREN COUNTY, Ga. -- The Warren County Sheriff's Office responded to a fatal accident on Interstate 20 Wednesday afternoon. Dispatch said the single-vehicle accident happened around 4:30 p.m. at mile marker 156.
Warren County Deputy Coroner Sandy Yelton said two people were killed. She said the victims were 20-year-old Nathan James Miller who was the driver and 17-year-old Brittaney K. Beaver. She said both victims died from blunt force trauma to the head. Miller also suffered chest trauma. Both were from Stockbridge, Ga., in Henry County.
Georgia State Patrol was also on the scene. Troopers said the Mercury Marquis was heading westbound on I-20 when it hydroplaned, lost control, rotated and hit a tree on the driver's side. There were pop-up showers in the area. Both victims were wearing their seat belts. They said the airbags deployed, but the impact was too strong.
