WAYNESBORO, Ga. (WRDW) -- A Burke County man is dead after an early morning fire at an assisted living home.

Charles Atkins, 65, was killed in the fire.

Investigators say it happened around 4:30 a.m. at the Twin Oaks Assisted Living Home on the 700 block of Old Millen Highway.

Six other people were in the home at the time of the fire. They all escaped without injury.

Investigators have not determined the exact cause of the fire, but they think it might have been caused by the improper disposal of a cigarette.
