Family of 4 rescued after canoe capsizes

NORTH AUGUSTA, S.C. (WRDW) -- A family of four was rescued by North Augusta Public Safety and Augusta Fire Department after their canoe capsized Wednesday afternoon.

All four had life jackets on and are now safe.

The family says they were about to dump out some water that had gotten in their canoe when a large wave crashed down on the family, sending three people down the river and pushing the mother back.

The mother ended up on River Oak Drive and the family was found at the boat ramp.
