Family escapes Augusta house fire

AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW) -- A family of six escaped an early morning house fire on the 1800 block of Ellis Street.

Firefighters were called to the scene just before 4 a.m.

Crews said a family member woke up to the blaze that started at the back of the house. Two adults and four children got out safely.

The family is staying with neighbors for now.

Investigators are still working to determine the cause of the fire.
