Experts weigh in on mysterious light

Wednesday, Aug. 28, 2013

WRENS, Ga. (WRDW) -- We love it when you send us your weather pics, and sometimes, News 12 viewers even capture weather video on their smartphones.

That's what experts say a clip sent in by Machell Hlomes of Hephzibah ended up being.

She says a friend captured video what appeared to be a UFO flying across the sky over Jefferson Electric in Wrens around 9:30 a.m. Monday. She sent it to us, hoping we could shed some light on the light.

Dr. Gary Senn at the DuPont Planetarium at the Ruth Patrick Science Education Center at USC Aiken says the light matches the reflection angle of the sun. GRU Augusta physics professor Grant Thompson went frame by frame and tells us he's also certain it's camera glare.
