Energy Assistance Program offering applications for senior citizens in Ga.

RICHMOND CTY., Ga. -- The CSRA Economic Opportunity Authority, Inc. has announced it has begun taking applications from households of senior citizens, 65 all and older, to assist with home heating costs. In order to qualify, ALL members of the household must be 65 years or older.

Applications will be taken Nov. 1 to Nov. 4 from 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. at May Park Center at 622 Fourth Street and Bernie Ward Center at 1941 Lumpkin Road. From Nov. 1 through Nov. 10, applications will be taken at the Henry H. Brigham center at 2463 Golden Camp Road from 7:30 a.m. until 3 p.m. Only 150 applications will be taken daily.

Other requirements for qualifying include:
1. You must be responsible for paying the cost of energy for primary home heating source.
2. U.S. citizenship or legally admitted aliens.
3. Income at or below 160 percent of the poverty level for Georgia.

You must have a copy of Social Security cards for everyone in the household. Proof of income for everyone in the household 18 years or older and most recent heating bill are also required. The person applying must have a photo ID and document showing proof of age. With all the required documentation, an application will be processed much quicker.
