Elderly suspect denied bond in fatal shooting at hospital

AUGUSTA, Ga. -- The 85-year-old man accused of shooting his nephew in a hospital room has been denied bond.

Charles Gorrell allegedly shot and killed Tim Grooms inside Gorrell's wife's room at University Hospital last month.

Gorrell asked the judge for bond during his first court appearance on Oct. 17 so he could care for his wife. That judge deferred the case to a higher court.

When Gorrell was in court on Friday, the judge denied bond.
