SALUDA COUNTY, S.C. (WRDW) -- South Carolina Highway Patrol is looking for the driver of a White Chevy truck as a fatal hit-and-run suspect.
The driver of a 2006-2009 White Chevrolet/GMC 1500 extended cab pick-up attempted to pass another vehicle Friday at 9:30 p.m. on SC 121, SCHP confirms.
Wayne F. King, 72, of Greenwood died from his injuries after being taken to Palmetto Health Richland, SCHP said. Simmons, 60, was also taken to the hospital for injuries. Both drivers had seatbelts on.
In the process of passing several vehicles, a white truck swerved into driver Terry Simmons' lane, SCHP said. Simmons then swerved and hit King's vehicle head-on. The driver of the white truck was originally trying to pass King's vehicle.
The white truck left the scene and had no damage to it.
