AIKEN COUNTY, S.C. (WRDW) -- A car accident killed a man and sent a woman to the hospital Saturday morning.
The Aiken County Coroner says 34-year-old Al Miller was killed when he lost control of the Chevrolet Tahoe he was driving. The coroner says the car overturned and threw Miller from the vehicle. Officers say Miller was not wearing his seatbelt.
One passenger, 34-year-old Tara Chase of Columbia, S.C., was taken to Georgia Regents Medical Center with minor injuries. According to Chase, the pair was heading to Atlanta.
Officers says excessive speed and possibly drugs and alcohol may be contributing factors in the crash. The accident happened around 6 a.m. near mile marker 28 on Interstate 20.
South Carolina Highway Patrol and the Aiken County Coroner's Office are investigating the crash. Toxicology tests are pending.
