AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW) -- A man has been indicted after a July accident that killed a Wrens officer and a pedestrian during illegal street racing.

Rodney L. Kelly, 25, was indicted for homicide by vehicle in the first degree and serious injury by vehicle.

Kelly was driving a blue Monte Carlo on Ulm Road and Kyterian Jones, the officer, was riding a burgundy motorcycle when deputies say Jones lost control during illegal racing. This accident happened on July 28.

The accident resulted in the death of Jones and Marcus Kelly, a pedestrian.

Jerome Gilmore, another pedestrian, was taken to the hospital with a broken leg and a laceration on his other leg.

The City of Wrens said Jones was off duty that night celebrating his birthday.
