AIKEN, S.C. (WRDW) -- The driver involved in a crash that killed a pedestrian is being charged with careless driving in Aiken.

The Aiken Department of Public Safety says Lukisha Nicole Thomas, her son and Ray Charles Wooden Jr. were walking on the sidewalk near the corner of York Street and Eastern Place when a driver, Thomas Woodruff Jr., jumped the curb and hit both Thomas and Wooden on March 30.

Thomas, 29, died while in surgery from multiple body trauma that same day.

Wooden was also injured in the accident.

Investigators say there was no evidence of alcohol or drug impairment or excessive speed as a factor in the accident.

They also say they found no indication Woodruff was using a cellular phone or texting.
