EDGEFIELD, S.C. (WRDW) -- Donation accounts have been set up for one of the victims in the assault at the Riverwalk over the weekend.

Two men attacked 27-year-old Wesley Spires and 25-year-old Ashley Solesbee on May 3, hitting them in the face and head with a metal object.

Spires, a volunteer firefighter, is still in the hospital for his injuries.

So far, no arrests have been made in the case. On Wednesday, the Richmond County Sheriff's Office issued a $10,000 reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction in the case.

Accounts have been set up at the following banks to help the Spires family with medical bills:

  • Georgia Bank and Trust
  • Southern Bank and Trust
  • SRP Federal Credit Union

The Westside Fire Department and Merriwether Fire Department in Edgefield County are sponsoring a BBQ dinner fundraiser to benefit Sprires. The dinner will be on June 1 at the Westside Community Center on Hwy 23 West across from Antioch Baptist Church. The plates will be $9 each and there will be a choice of chicken or pulled pork.

Tickets will go on sale Friday at various locations (still undetermined at this time). Please call (803) 279-8001 or (803) 480-0927 for further information.
