RCSO: Dog shot after charging deputy

AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW) - The Richmond County Sheriff's Office reports a dog charged a deputy.

According to reports, a Deputy Kevin Link responded to a call about two vicious dogs on Monmouth Rd.

The deputy says when he got there, one of the dogs charged at him. He then shot at the dog once, hitting it.

The dog ran into the woods. The owners later found the dog and took him to the vet.

The owner, Kelsey Beatty, was cited by Animal Control.

News 12 talked to the dog's owner who says their dog is not vicious and has never bitten anyone before.
