Dispatch: Shooting starts at local Waffle House

AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW) -- The Richmond County Sheriff's Office responded to a shooting in South Augusta on Saturday night where they found one man dead.

There are two shooting victims after bullets flew at 10:30 p.m., dispatch said. The shooting started at an Augusta Waffle House.

An off duty Richmond County deputy on special assignment heard shots near the Bi-Lo store in the Southgate Shopping Center. Deputies later found the body of a male victim in the parking lot. He has been identified as 35-year-old Michael Hanson of Augusta. The coroner says he was shot at least once.

The deputy who heard the shots called in a suspect vehicle while following it. The vehicle was later stopped on Cook Rd. All three men in the car were taken into custody.One man from the vehicle was taken to the hospital with a gunshot round.

The incident is under investigation and is said to be drug related.
