AUGUSTA, Ga. -- Investigators are still looking for a suspect in a fatal stabbing Thursday morning.

Deputy Coroner Kenneth Boose says the victim is 52-year-old Samuel Hackett. This was the 25th homicide in Richmond County this year.

The call came in shortly after 1 a.m. at a home on the 1400 block of Dewitt Street.

Deputies say Hackett was stabbed three times and was chased down the street by the suspect, who took off in a car.

We're told Hackett went looking for help, entered a home and was found by a witness who called authorities.

Investigators say Hackett was offered a ride from an unknown black male. Witnesses describe the man as being between 25 and 30 years old and between 5'7" and 5'9" tall with an athletic build and a low haircut. He is said to have been driving a Chrysler PT Cruiser.

The man has not been identified at this time. If you have any information, call the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office at (706) 821-1080 or (706) 821-1020. Callers may remain anonymous.
