UPDATE: Investigators say they've apprehended Jackson shooting suspect

JACKSON, S.C. (WRDW)- Aiken County deputies said they apprehended 18-year-old Corey Fields in connection with a late night shooting Thursday in Jackson.

They said while they approached Fields, he tried to run away by jumping through a window. Deputies said he cut his hand and was taken to Aiken Regional Medical Center for treatment.

They said once Fields is released he'll be taken to the Aiken County Detention Center

JACKSON, S.C. (WRDW) -- Aiken County deputies are investigating a shooting on Virginia Hill Court.

Aiken County dispatch said one person was shot in his abdomen. EMS transported the male victim to Georgia Regents University for treatment. His condition is unknown. Deputies responded to the mobile home around 11:45 p.m. Thursday.

Authorities said a suspect fled the scene.

Witnesses have assisted investigators in identifying 18-year-old Corey Fields of Warrenville as the suspect involved in the shooting.

Investigators are expecting to obtain warrants on Fields for attempted murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime.

The Sheriff’s Office believes Fields to be Armed and Dangerous and asks the public if they know of his whereabouts to call the Sheriff’s Office at 803-648-6811 or Crime Stoppers at 888-CRIME-SC 888-274-6372.
