AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW) -- The Augusta Metro Treatment Center is the latest victim of an armed robbery in Augusta, Richmond County dispatch said.
The methadone treatment facility on Ellis Street was robbed around 10:30 a.m., dispatch said.
According to a report, a man walked into the business, pointed a gun at employees and told them to get out of the way. The report says he then walked straight back to the room where the money is kept.
The employee who was working in the money room says the robber kicked the door in, pointed a hand gun at her and yelled for her to give up all the money. After handing the man one cash drawer, he demanded the other which was empty, the report said.
Witness Brent Estes says he saw the whole thing unfold and ran to grab his firearm in his car, but before he could get there, the robber ran off. Estes said he chased him until the man hopped into the passenger side of a black car and sped off.
There is still no word on any arrests made in this case. Two suspects got away.
