AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW) -- Demolition has officially started on the burned out building on the corner of Broad Street and 12th Street.

Crews started Tuesday and officials said the project should take about two months to complete.

Earlier this month the director of Historic Augusta told News 12 he's afraid of the building having a negative impact on bringing new business to downtown.

We're told once demolition is over, two-story loft apartments could be built on the property.
