Augusta voters head to the polls May 20th to elect their next mayor. The first forum is tomorrow night at the BOE auditorium. The candidates will be there taking your questions.

"Most of the people that come to the those are people who have already made up their mind. they are there to either support their candidate or have already made up their mind," said Mayor Deke Copenhaver.

Mayor Deke Copenhaver says since the race was moved from November to May this is a short election cycle. He says these last eight to ten weeks will be crucial. Also the candidates may not be able to reach as many voters as they get ready to leave town for masters week.

"They're getting their houses ready to rent. A lot of people are focused on getting out of town. How do you get people's interest in regards to your message and what your platform is?"

The next debates are March 20th at the Snelling Center. Augusta's NAACP Branch will hold a debate March 27th at Beulah Grove Baptist Church.

WRDW will air a live debate on Tuesday May 13th. It's being put on by the Augusta Richmond County Committee for Good Government.
