News 12 launched a full-scale investigation into the Augusta Youth Development Campus in November after a 19-year-old inmate was fatally assaulted.

AUGUSTA, Ga. -- The DJJ has released the names of two more employees who have been terminated from the Augusta Youth Development Campus.
Department of Juvenile Justice Commissioner Gale Buckner says the firing of YDC employees Kenneth Payton and Dondale Stroman stem from the DJJ’s ongoing investigation at the facility.
According to a news release, Payton was fired for “allegedly initiating a physical altercation with a resident.”
Stroman was terminated from the facility due to the “alleged improper use of physical intervention techniques.”
These firings are a result of the DJJ’s surprise visit to the YDC on Tuesday along with 20 Georgia Bureau of Investigation agents.
“… We’re taking immediate steps here to fix the problems at DJJ we can control now,” Buckner said in the news release. “More terminations are expected.”
The YDC has been in hot water with the DJJ since November when a 19-year-old inmate was fatally assaulted.
