AUGUSTA, Ga. -- A new director has been appointed at the Augusta Youth Development Campus.
Cedric Taylor of Barnesville, Ga., will assume the role. According to the Department of Juvenile Justice, Taylor has served with the Georgia Department of Corrections since 1992. Most recently, Taylor was warden at the Valdosta State Close Security Prison.
Taylor will join two other recent additions to the YDC team -- James Reid, assistant director of security, and Donnell Collins, captain of corrections officers.
“With his 20 years of experience across this spectrum of Georgia Corrections, Cedric Taylor can provide the new direction in integrity we need at Augusta YDC,” said Commissioner Avery Niles in a news release. “Taylor has a reputation for honesty and a firm and fair attitude for leadership."
Taylor will be taking the place of Interim YDC Director Melvin Womble, who was terminated earlier this week.
