Crews work to put out structure fire on 8th Street

AUGUSTA, Ga. -- Fire crews worked to put out a structure fire on the 900 block of 8th Street in downtown Augusta Monday morning.

Were told it was an abandoned building. Dispatch says the call came in around 1:45 a.m.

We're told there was heavy smoke coming from the building and fire crews had to keep replaying their oxygen tanks to continue to put out the fire.

Fire crews say they do not know what caused the fire at this time.
