AIKEN, S.C. -- Crews in Aiken did not meet the Friday deadline for the emergency roadwork on the Laurens Street bridge in Aiken.
The Department of Transportation says a problem with the foundation held up work on the bridge.
Since the project won't be finished in time, the DOT will have to pay 20 percent of the total amount to finish it up.
This all came about after deep cracks started to show in the bridge back in April.
Crews say they hope to open the bridge back up by the middle of next week. News 12 will keep you updated.
